What We Do

USPG: Anglicans in World Mission is an Anglican mission and development agency that has been working in Ireland since 1714. We seek to enable people to grow spiritually, to thrive physically, and to have a voice in an unjust world.

We work to encourage all the churches which make up the Anglican Communion to support each other in God's mission. USPG exists to help Church of Ireland parishes to be in relationship with other churches within the
Communion. We are the means by which these relationships can be realised by the mutual sharing of gifts through prayer, meeting, and the exchange of people and ideas, in a spirit of generosity and reconciliation. In a world where material resources are so unequally distributed, USPG is also a means
whereby people in Ireland can give financial support to churches in other parts of the world. We raise money to support the life of the church in poorer places. This support may take the form of direct grants, mission companions, shorter-term volunteers and scholarships. Each partner church nominates that part of their work for which they seek support, and decisions about how money is distributed among them are made by the partners together.

Some of the work with partner churches may be supported as projects. These include: Healthcare for Tanzania; Bangladesh in Focus; Reaching Out to Ethiopia; Building Firm Foundations (Chile); Chance of a Lifetime (HIV/AIDS); and also mission companions. Supporters receive lots of
information on the projects and a regular newsletter.
